Does Massage Make You Happier?
Massage therapy does many things for us and it can be used for many different reasons. In the main there are two reasons to use massage therapy, mental health or physical health.
Whatever detailed reason you may have for using massage therapy, deep down you will be using it to benefit either mentally, physically or both. Delving into the mental health side of things there is an interesting question I want to look at. We know that massage therapy can be very useful in helping with mental health but can it make you happier?
In terms of this article we define happiness of contentedness, satisfaction with life and joy. We define happy as being at peace with your life, in a good state and enjoying the world.
Does massage make you happy?
If you really don’t want it to make you happy then it probably won’t. It is however very powerful at making you feel better, stronger and calm.
Before we look at how it can make you feel better we should look at the reasons behind any unhappiness. You might be unhappy because of stress or anxiety, you might be unhappy because of physical pain, emotional pain or a combination of both. There are a number of reasons in which a person can find their selves unhappy, and massage can help with a few of them.
In particular if you suffer from physical pain, massage can help by curing it. By working with a therapist on a regular basis they can find the cause of the pain and work to reduce or remove it completely, no pain equals happiness.
It can also help with stress, anxiety and depression. Just by having a regular slot you will have routine in your life, you will have something to look forward to and you also have a relaxing experience.
You can also use massage therapy to improve your physical health and as we all know physical exercise will release feel good endorphins that biologically improve your mood and make you happy.
There are a number of ways in which you can claim massage makes you happy and as long as you keep an open mind to it, there is no reason it can’t. Of course this isn’t a guarantee and apart from releasing feel good chemicals it can’t directly make a person happy, it can only encourage and facilitate a state of mental well-being.
