How to Get Rid of Love Handles

Love handles are nothing but the extra fat deposits around your abdomen that bulge out from both sides of your waist. To get rid of the accumulated fat deposits and your love handles, follow these simple guidelines:

1.) Eat Healthy

When it comes to fitness and weight loss, eating a healthy diet is the most important factor to be considered. You need to eat 5-6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism rate high and burn extra calories. Avoid eating sugary foods or foods rich in calories, and opt for weight-smart foods such as lean meat and low carb vegetables.

Try including more of fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables, and wholegrain foods in your daily diet. These are rich in micronutrients and fiber and get digested slowly, thus burn more calories and prevent fact accumulation.

2.) Do not starve yourself

Dieting or missing meals is the worst thing you can do when trying to lose weight. When you do not eat for long hours or miss meals, your body gets into the ‘Starvation mode’ and ends up storing fat rather than burning it. This fat gets stored around your abdominal area adding on to your love handles.

3.) Exercise regularly

Consistent high intensity workouts and cardio exercises are the best way to build a perfectly toned and sculpted abdomen. While complete body workout is the best way to reduce your total body fat, you can incorporate certain exercises in your workout regime that target your problem areas (in this case your waist and abdomen).

Here are a few exercises that target your abdomen and waistline and are very effective in dissolving the love handles:

Reverse crunches

Lie on the floor and place your arms down at your sides. Cross your ankles and bend your legs slightly at the knees. Pushing off with your arms and hands against the floor, use your abs to curl your legs and hips up off of the floor until you feel your abdominals contract. Pause briefly and return slowly to the starting position.

Row Time

Lie down on your back, fold your hands together in the front and start pushing your head up. Try getting your hands as close to your feet as possible in a circular motion (just like rowing a boat). Repeat clockwise and anticlockwise.

Side Bend

Standing, grab a dumbbell in your right hand and hold it at arm’s length down by your waist, palm facing your thigh. Place your opposite hand on top of your head, with your elbow bent and out to the side. Slowly lower the dumbbell down as close to your knee level as possible, pause briefly, and return to the starting position slowly.

Remember, you can get rid of love handles by increasing the rate of metabolism, which can be achieved by exercising at least 3-4 times a week. A combination of healthy diet and regular exercises can help you lose those love handles quickly!
