Nutrients for Faster Growing Hair

Getting the right nutrients from your diet and supplements is important in securing healthy hair growth. A right combination of nutrients from a well-balanced diet will provide the right environment for your hair to thrive in.

Protein forms the basic unit of your hair cells. It is important for the proper functioning of the cells. Without adequate protein, your hair may turn brittle, coarse and feels dry. Most protein sources can be derived from fish, dairy products, lean meat and eggs. If you are a vegetarian, you may have limited protein from your diet and need to take extra supplements so that your hair would not be deprived of the necessary nutrient.

Folate helps to normalize the level of red blood cells in the blood. With sufficient red blood cells, your hair cells can be provided with adequate oxygen to function and grow. Otherwise, a low folate intake may weaken your hair.

Biotin is also a nutrient much needed by your hair for growth. It encourages growth of hair cells and metabolism of fat. Fatty acids are needed to protect your hair from thinning. Take more of egg yolk in order to get adequate biotin in your diet.

There are a few minerals, also known as micronutrients which play important roles in healthy hair growth. These include iron, silica and zinc. You should get enough iron from lean meat, oysters and sardines as the mineral helps to provide oxygenated blood to hair cells. Meanwhile, silica helps to prevent hair loss and maintain healthy scalp. It can be found in rice, green leafy vegetables and oats.

Zinc aids in cell growth to promote healthier hair cells. It also stimulates more oil production in the scalp to prevent excessive dryness. With adequate sebum, your hair stays moisturized with a natural shine. It also keeps away bacterial growth in the scalp by providing a slightly acidic environment. There is a whole lot of food which are rich in zinc which you can take and they include nuts, grains and oysters.

When caring for your hair, you should not neglect vitamins. These nutrients play significant roles in promoting healthy hair growth. If you need a fuller hair, ensure that your diet is incorporated with vitamin B5. The vitamin helps to enlarge hair follicles so that your hair grows thicker. Also, take at least 100mg of vitamin C daily to maintain healthy hair. This vitamin promotes stronger hair that is resistant to breakage. It also increases production of collagen to give you a healthier scalp.

The other vitamin which you should consume from your diet is riboflavin or vitamin B2. This nutrient helps in repairing weak scalp as well as increasing levels of red blood cells so that more oxygen is available for hair cells.
